Powder Paint
Stan Sloan's Powder Paint

For the angler who likes to paint his own heads, spinnerbaits, blades, etc. all you need is a small propane torch or a simple cigarette lighter.

Sold in 4 oz. bottles.

Instructions:

  1. Pour powder into a large container and make sure powder is loose.
  2. Light propane torch and turn to lowest possible setting.
  3. Hold lure in front of flame for about 4 to 5 seconds.
  4. Once this is done, you simply dip metal part of lure into powder for a second.
  5. Remove lure and shake excess powder off by tapping on side of container.
  6. Use a toothpick or wire to punch hole in eye of hook.
  7. Allow to cool.

Powder paint that is fully cured is the hardest, most durable paint you can use. To cure, you should rack lures or parts, place in 400 degree oven for ten minutes, then remove. Allow to cool. They are now ready to use.

To paint lures with fiber or plastic weed guard, place in 225 degree oven for 20 to 25 minutes.

This 4 oz. bottle of powder paint should  paint 1000 to 1500 lead heads.

Do not expose powder to direct sunlight or heat (over 75 degrees F) for extended periods of time. This may cause the powder to get hard.
